Put simply FAMILY CLOTH = REUSABLE TOILET PAPER and WIPES.
If you cloth diaper, then you are already familiar with this concept. Cloth diapers have been in our home since 2012. We are addicted. We love them. Nothing like a nice warm sunny day with cloth diapers hanging on the line
So, one day I was out picking up toilet paper for the 4,752nd time last year (in December), and I said to myself that ‘there HAS to be something else.’
There just has to be.
I hate buying something just to throw it away, and toilet paper is one of those things. It is something I have always hated spending money on, and boy that stuff is getting expensive (especially for something you use ONCE and flush away). You might as well throw your money in your toilet and FLUSH!
One night I was scrolling through my pinterest feed (follow me here), and I saw a pin for family cloth. I was intrigued. I read that it is really just cloth wipes, and since we cloth diaper I already knew about the wipes. But, for some reason I never made the connection.
I began to think about it every time I grabbed a cloth wipe. I was hesitant though, because the cloth wipes we had were one layer, thin, and made of a cheaper quality flannel.
Were they durable? Yes. Flannel? Yes. Clean easy? Yes (and they are white and have no stains after using daily for a year).
But, they were just so thin (and I like a lot of cushion if ya’ know what I mean). Because I thought that this is what using family cloth would be like I dismissed the thought for the time being.
Fast forward two months.
I went out to buy toilet paper for the 752nd time this year, and it was only February. I was fed up. I said to myself, “this is the last toilet paper that I will buy. I am going to buy family cloth.”
And that’s what I did that day.
I headed home, jumped on the computer, and started looking for family cloth!
My search eventually led me to ETSY. I found this wonderful store called FAMILY CLOTH WIPES. I was hooked the moment I saw their wipes. They looked soft and durable. They also had two layers which would make them have more ‘cushion.’
The wipes come in a number of different counts (10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 100), patterns, and solids. The shop also sells wet bags, smaller wipes (I ordered the “regular” ones), diaper pail liners, diaper inserts/soakers, and other cool things!
**FYI: Claudia (the owner) has excellent customer service. She got back to me within minutes anytime I had a question. She is superb and runs her shop the same way!
Aren’t they so beautiful, awesome, and amazing?!? I think so y’all. I really do.
They work well, and wash well too.
What Do You Do With Them After You Use Them?
EASY PEASY (and nothing new if you cloth diaper)! I use a small garbage can that you can lift the lid with your foot. The garbage can also has a removable insert for easy washing! The garbage can (pictured below) comes in black or white and in a pack of 2 (SCORE)!
We keep a small spray bottle of water next to the wipes for the kids. This gives them the option to use a wet or dry wipe!
When you are done wiping you just toss it in the garbage can with the pail liner!
How Do You Wash Them?
I wash them with my cloth diapers to simplify things! BAM! Two birds with one stone.
All you have to do is pull the diaper pail bag out of the garbage can and dump it into the washing machine. I turn it inside out in the drum to let the wipes fall into the machine, so I never touch them. Then, you just toss the diaper pail liner into the washer with the wipes. We wash them with my DIY soap-free laundry detergent.
Wash. Dry. Done.
Are They Easy To Maintain? For Kids?
Oh YES! These are so easy to maintain. It is just like toilet paper only it is SOFTER and you are NOT flushing it!
They will last a very long time. We are still using cloth diapers that we have had for over two years. These wipes will last just like cloth diapers.
J (age 3) wouldn’t even wipe his own bottom with toilet paper, but as soon as we started using the wipes he wipes it himself (another big score for mom)!
How To Order
All you gotta do folks is head over to Claudia’s etsy store. Do you want a custom package? She does that! She made one for me. Just send her a quick message! She even combined the items to lower the shipping. Awesome huh?
We have two bathrooms in our home.
Here’s What I Purchased:
- 100 brown wipes (they are darker in person than the pic). They are solid dark brown like the description states.
- 20 cloth baby wipes in teal butterflies
- 2 ‘small’ diaper pail liners in black
- The trash cans above in black (they come in a pack of 2)
Beau, the kids, and I ABSOLUTELY love these wipes. We will never go back to toilet paper. As a matter of fact, the kids complained about the toilet paper when we had to use the bathrooms at their soccer game!
So go ahead...ORDER them. You won’t regret it.
You just won’t y’all!
